Game-Changing Green Innovation: Discover the Future of 3D Golf Tee Markers at The Zurich Classic of New Orleans

In recent years, golf has been actively working on environmental conservation - less water, pesticides, and fertilizers on courses - and adopting eco-friendly practices like recycling organic waste at tournaments. These efforts align with NatureWorks' goal of developing eco-friendly materials for a sustainable future. In 2021, NatureWorks sponsored the Zurich Classic on the PGA tour. Zurich, the event's title sponsor, wanted to make the tournament more environmentally responsible, so they partnered with NatureWorks, a leader in sustainable materials, to find solutions that would reduce the event's environmental impact. NatureWorks, in collaboration with the 3D printing service bureau Slant 3D, created custom tee markers for the tournament course. These tee markers were made from biobased Ingeo polymer, which is eco-friendly. They used Ingeo 3D870, designed for high-quality and durable parts with better heat and impact resistance. 3D printing has environmental and cost advantages over injection molding because it is more efficient, creates less waste, doesn't need molds, and allows for easier supply chain management and quick design changes. This makes 3D printing an excellent choice for customizable, low to mid-volume applications like these tee markers. The team efficiently produced all 100 tee markers within a month. NatureWorks is pleased to have contributed to the Zurich Classic and shown how Ingeo biopolymer can be used to enhance the golf experience and promote a more sustainable future.
