Discover the Breakthroughs: Unleashing the Potential of Ingeo PLA 3D700 in Large Format 3D Printing

Case Studies

Published on November 15, 2022

Ingeo PLA filament has been popular in 3D printing for various uses, from small hobbyist projects to big industrial tasks like medical prototypes and metal casting. It’s easy to print with, doesn't warp much, sticks together well, and can even be used in a clean-burning process for making molds. As 3D printing technology grows, it's being used for bigger projects in industries like manufacturing, construction, and more. Large 3D printing can save money on materials and processes, allow for more custom designs, quick prototypes, and is better for the environment. However, the risk of large 3D printing is warping, which can cause the material to come off the printing surface or separate between layers. This can be costly in terms of both materials and time. NatureWorks saw a need for materials that work well in various large format 3D printers. So, they created a special Ingeo PLA type called Ingeo 3D700 to make more accurate and precise 3D prints, filling gaps better and reducing the chances of print failures. NatureWorks partnered with Branch Technology, a Tennessee-based construction 3D printing company, to create a unique sculpture that shows off the qualities of Ingeo 3D700. This new material is known for having low warping, high stiffness, improved strength, and better layer adhesion. They named the sculpture Ingeo Dyson Sphere, and it was entirely printed using Ingeo 3D700 without any extra strengthening materials or supports.
